No, I was not born with the name Jael Dubya. Jael Dubya is my pen name for my verbalized acronym...J.L.W. My given name is Jason Lee Willis, and there were several factors for me to publish my Bible studies with the name Jael Dubya. First, I'm a fiction writer also, and my subject matter and content is quite different. Using different author names on Amazon made sense for me to separate these two literary styles.
I also loved the idea of getting "renamed." Jacob becomes Israel, Abram becomes Abraham, Saul becomes Paul, etc. So this name reflects a different side of me.
Finally, I thought Jael sounded pretty epic. It had an angelic ring to it. And angels are, after all, messengers. As a writer, I think being an epic messenger is a lofty aspiration.
